It’s not every premiere that you find yourself sharing a red carpet with the name behind your gown, and perhaps less often that the aforementioned designer acted alongside you in the film. But for a project like The Devil Wears Prada 2, where celebrity cameos were abundant and the world of fashion media was examined from every angle, it made sense. That’s why it was not altogether surprising that Anne Hathaway snapped photos with Donatella Versace at the London premiere.

Stepping out for the premiere, Hathaway wowed in a navy-blue velvet gown from Atelier Versace—crafted with a shimmering sequin top panel and a long, high-slit skirt that trailed behind her. The bodice, made from shiny silk, mirrored the look of a tuxedo jacket, with little lapels and a row of buttons. At either side, sheer panels with exposed boning let us inside the construction of such a garment, showing the deconstructed view of a traditional silhouette.

The back echoed the shape of the front, with little lapel-like flaps folding over the skirt as if it was coming undone.

Hathaway and stylist Erin Walsh added Bulgari Serpenti earrings, which were on full display thanks to the star’s voluminous, slicked-back high ponytail.

Next to her, Versace wore a black off-the-shoulder gown with tiered layers of ruching. The designer spearheaded the creative endeavors of the label from 1997—after the death of her brother-slash-house founder, Gianni Versace—until 2025, when she stepped back and let Dario Vitale take the reigns. Now, she serves as the chief brand ambassador.
