Kate Middleton and Prince William are sharing a look back at their busy year with some never-before-seen family photos.
The Prince and Princess of Wales shared a slideshow of 12 new photos on their Instagram account on Tuesday, Dec. 30, tracking their year in royal duties and heartfelt family moments.
The series of photos kicks off with a somber image of William and Kate lighting candles on Holocaust Memorial Day. The couple, along with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and prominent Jewish leaders, attended a service at Guildhall in London to mark the annual memorial, as well as the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps.

A few months later, the couple marked another meaningful milestone, on the 80th anniversary of VE Day. They attended a tea held by King Charles at Buckingham Palace honoring World War II veterans, and brought along their eldest Prince George, 12.
It was the young prince's most formal royal duty to date, a sign that his parents are starting to ease him into the spotlight.
"This was the first sign of George taking on future duties," Russell Myers of The Mirror told PEOPLE for an exclusive cover story, noting that the prince was "very engaged" as he asked the veterans questions about their service.
A palace insider added, "That is quite a responsibility to sit down and chat with veterans like that. It was incredible."

Months later, William would sit down at another military table, though this one was a fair bit more raucous. The royal recap's December photo shows the Prince of Wales in attendance at the Welsh Guard Christmas party at Combermere Barracks.
Judging from the fun shot, the prince shared a few drinks and more than a few laughs with the young soldiers.

Other fun moments captured in the roundup included William's beach volleyball game during his Earthshot trip to Brazil, Kate presenting the Wimbledon trophy to the tournament's men's singles winner, Jannik Sinner of Italy, and a wide, striking shot of the prince and princess greeting Marine One as it landed at Windsor Castle, bringing U.S. President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump to to the U.K. for their state visit with King Charles. They even got the King in on the fun, as William donned a big grin and an even bigger beefeater hat to stand alongside his father and Princess Anne during the 2025 Trooping the Colour festivities.

While 2025 was a busy one for the royals, there's plenty to look forward to in the new year.
William and Kate, along with their children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 — will be kicking off 2026 by settling into their new home. The family moved to Forest Lodge, a property in Windsor Great Park, in the fall of 2025, embracing a larger residence that will continue to be their home base even when William eventually becomes king.
Prince George is also facing another major change, as he is set to turn 13 on July 22 and begin his secondary school career in the fall. Speculation continues over where the young prince will attend, with the two frontrunners being his parents' alma maters: the all-boys Eton College, where William attended, and the co-ed Marlborough College, where Kate matriculated.
While a source previously told the Mail on Sunday that "all roads lead to Eton," The Telegraph reported in early December that Marlborough was the choice, claiming the school had "sent letters out to parents." However, the royal family has yet to make an official announcement.
The new year could also see the royals doing quite a bit of travel. During a September visit to the U.K., Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese extended an invitation for Prince William and Princess Kate to return Down Under, and they could possibly make it a family trip with George, Charlotte and Louis. The couple last visited Australia in 2014, bringing along baby Prince George.
Additionally, the year 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence, and President Trump has been planning a litany of patriotic events to mark the occasion.
Queen Elizabeth visited the U.S. in 1976 to mark the nation's 200th anniversary, where she spoke in Philadelphia and expressed the monarchy’s “sincere gratitude” to the founding fathers for having “taught Britain a very valuable lesson.” It's possible that senior royals could follow suit to mark the upcoming milestone.
It's also possible that Prince William could make a special visit to the U.S. to support England in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The tournament is being hosted in 16 cities across North America, with the championship match scheduled to take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on July 19, 2026.
