Some stories are too loud, too influential, and too embedded in culture to be told with a filter. Especially when the life in question has soundtracked three decades of music and redefined what a hip-hop icon can become, itās best to tell it raw. And thatās exactly whatās coming as a new R-rated movie telling Snoop Doggās life story is officially heading to the big screen.
Snoop Dogg reveals that he is getting a biopic
Snoop Dogg has confirmed that his journey from Long Beach roots as Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. to a global hip-hop icon is being adapted into an official biopic by Universal Pictures.
The rap legend opened the studioās presentation at CinemaCon with a surprise. He performed Drop It Like Itās Hot and Gin and Juice before bringing actor Jonathan Daviss onstage. Snoop Dogg then briefly introduced the Outer Banks star who will play him in the upcoming film.
āAfter my brothers got to tell their story with Straight Outta Compton, now itās my turn,ā Snoop Dogg said. āMy director, Craig Brewer, he just showed us how hard it is out here for a pimp from Hustle & Flow. And then last year, he got us all singing āSweet Caroline,āā he continued.
āIf we gonna do a Snoop Dogg movie, I gotta get gangster with it,ā the rapper added, followed by an excerpt from Nuthinā but a āGā Thang and a snippet of Deep Cover.
